Cally Bluebell Run

A new 10km trail run through the blue carpet of Cally Wood starting and finishing in Garries Park, Gatehouse of Fleet the route will cover many of the trails within the wood. The date is 5th May and should fit well for those preparing for the Kirkcudbright half marathon as well as those on a bit of a break over the bank holiday. The event is for all levels, it is a test for those hardy trail runners and a lovely route for those more social and fun runners; there are a few ups and downs, some wet sections and a bit of a water splash as well as a number of historic monuments within the wood. However the main reason for the race is the opportunity to run through the areas of Bluebells; the spectacular annual bloom of these wildflowers is a sight and smell to behold.
