Gatehouse of Fleet has a thriving community with a wealth of activities and events throughout the year to suit most interests.
Meetings of the Community Council take place on the second Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the Gatehouse Community Centre (unless otherwise stated). Meetings are open to the public. The minutes of past meetings are available on the Community Council page along with details of current Councillors and information on projects which the Council are currently engaged on.
The GDI meets on the last Wednesday of every other month in the Community Centre, at 7.30pm. The Gatehouse Development Initiative exists for the benefit of the Gatehouse Community and provides a framework for the development of projects within the community.
The Mill is a visitor and exhibition centre in the heart of the town based in one of the former Mill buildings. As well as providing displays describing the history and heritage of Gatehouse and the Fleet Valley, the Mill runs a full programme of temporary exhibitions, provides the town's tourist information service in partnership with Visit Scotland, and hosts many events and activities throughout the year.
The Community Centre has recently benefited from a major refurbishment programme and is used by many groups and clubs within the town. It provides a venue for large events and rooms which can be booked for meetings and other activities. The building included kitchen facilities.
The Gala takes place every year at the end of July/beginning of August. (Gala Day, at the end of the week always falls on the first Saturday of August).
The town has many sporting and social clubs to cater for most interests.
