The Community Centre is at the corner of Dromore Road and Garden Street and is adjacent to the Medical Centre and the Primary School. The building provides space for a wide range of community events, for use by community groups and for meetings. It was the former Gatehouse school and dates from 1922. It became the community centre in 1986 and was substantially upgraded to improved environmental standards in 2010.
It is currently used by various groups for regular classes and events throughout the year and offers a large hall and two public rooms, together with a communal kitchen for use by community groups and local people. The hall provides an open space (approx 53 foot by 20 foot) suitable for exhibitions, parties and other public events. It will accommodate around 50 people seated or 80 circulating.
The Lounge (approx 27 foot by 19 foot) accommodates around 25 people seated and is suitable for presentations and smaller public events. The Meeting Room (also approx 27 foot by 19 foot) accommodates around 12 people in a conference table format with further seating for another 12 people if required.
The hall costs £12 per hour and the lounge and meeting room cost £10 per hour with special rates for all day bookings. WiFi is available throughout the building and the kitchen facilities are automatically included with all bookings. For further information and bookings please see our website
The Community Centre is a registered charity (SC041192) whose purpose is to provide a community centre for the benefit of all the residents in Gatehouse of Fleet and the surrounding area. Membership of the charity is through an Association which holds its AGM around December and which elects a Management Committee for the day-to-day running of the charity and of the Community Centre building on Dromore Road.
