Gatehouse Memories Weekend 13 to 15 June 2014 - Save the date

The Gatehouse Development Initiative will be organising a Gatehouse Memories weekend from 13 to 15th June based on the photographs of local photographer William McMurray.

There has been a great response to the display of the photographs by William McMurray on the Gatehouse Folk web site.  The ITV programme Border Life has also publicised the photographs and assisted the project to identify places and people in the photographs.

To bring these photographs to the attention of as many people as possible the Gatehouse Development Initiative will be organising a Gatehouse Memories Weekend from 13 to 15 June.

There will be a talk in the Mill on the Fleet on Friday 13 June at 7.30pm on the photograph collection and on the afternoon of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June several hundred photographs will be on display in the Community Centre.  This will be a great opportunity for anyone with Gatehouse connections to look through the photographs to search for forebears. All the photographs for which names of people and places have been supplied will be available for study as well as many for which we are still seeking information.

Experts will be on hand to help with family history questions and to provide information on other historical questions and context.

The Gatehouse Development Initiative acknowledges the backing of the Historic Scotland Environment Support Fund which has helped to make this weekend possible.
