The lack of affordable housing in Gatehouse has been identified in the Local Place Plan as the main priority for the town. We have been working on plans to transform the former Woodside garage site into 7 community-owned homes, available to local workers for affordable rent. The plans are now at an advanced stage thanks to generous funding from the Rural Housing Fund, Scottish Land Fund, Dumfries and Galloway Council and the Crown Estate.

Planning approval for seven 2-bed homes was achieved in March 2026.
