The club prides itself on being an exceptionally friendly and welcoming community and has members ranging from pre-school to 70+, all with various different cricketing backgrounds and a range of abilities levels. Complete beginners are especially encouraged to join this thriving club as one of our main aims is to promote the many physical, social and mental benefits that cricket has to offer. 

Galloway Cricket Club has several teams in various league and cup competitions during the summer. The men’s first eleven called Galloway have games every Saturday commencing at 12 noon from Saturday 2 May until the end of August. The team play in the Western District Cricket league and play in a 100-over competition against teams from Glasgow, Greenock, and the Central belt of Scotland. The games are played on a home and away basis. The men’s second eleven called Gatehouse play in the same competition in a lower Division and their games will be played on either a Saturday or a Sunday. The seconds competition is an 80-over competition and the games will commence at 1pm. These games are also played on a home and away basis. The ladies team who are called Galloway have a league system and a cup competition to compete in and they will be playing on Sunday’s during the summer months. The ladies have been training throughout the winter and attending indoor tournaments all over Scotland.The clubs junior team will also be playing competitive cricket during the summer but to date a full programme is not available. The club also run a mid week team which play their home fixtures at Castle Douglas on a Wednesday evening and also have away fixtures against teams from Dumfries and Annan and Lockerbie.    These games are a 40-over format.
As you can see we are running several teams in competitive cricket and as such require as many players who could be required to play and as such we are always recruiting and training players.
The type of players required are any ages between 12 and 70 either male or female. We provide training to anyone who is just wanting to start playing and have coaches for all age groups.
