Number 1 High Street officially opened on the 4th of May, after 6 weeks of hard graft, providing a new home for TGB Gatehouse. TGB was formed and is supported by the Community Church for the benefit of our community and our move was made possible through a three-year grant by the National Lottery’s “Young Start” programme. This is funded from dormant bank accounts, a fact not lost on us as we took over dormant bank premises!
With a day-time open day and a special evening event to thank people who have helped and supported us through the process of taking over the premises, we welcomed over 250 people through the doors!
It was great to share all the exciting projects TGB has currently, and the plans for our new groups with both locals and visitors alike, with many browsing through a variety of local hand-crafted goods in ‘The Wee Shop’.
The Wee Shop provides a ‘Rent A Shelf’ opportunity for crafters to display their goods for sale at a reasonable rate with zero commission.
Stocking a variety of paintings, prints, cards, gifts, jewellery and zero waste products, there really is something for everyone. The income from the shelves goes straight into our groups helping keep all TGB Groups a donation only entry.
Number 1 High Street also provides TGB with an office base and an amazing space where most of our group activities will now be held.
As the proud new lease holders we are banking on investing more into the amazing community of Gatehouse of Fleet with more opportunities for young people including sports and self-esteem sessions. Our groups are very much community-led, so if you have a suggestion please feel free to pop in for a chat, the shop is open Tuesday- Saturday 10am-4pm.
